Reference Librarian, Reference Department - West Haven Public Library

Reference Librarian, Reference Department - West Haven Public Library. Full-Time. West Haven Public Library seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, creative tech savvy Reference Librarian for the Reference Department; full-time (37.5 hrs./wk.), including evenings and rotating weekends. MLS degree from an ALA-accredited institution and two years library management experience required; experience with public library reference services; demonstrates a strong commitment to public service and proficient in hardware and software. The primary responsibilities will be in Adult Services, providing reference, teaching library skills, participating in collection development, assist in expanding community outreach and developing programs, utilizing social media to promote the Library and offering technology 'help-desk' services these include but not limited to utilizing the Internet, e-mail, social media, MS Office applications, downloadable library collections and Wi-Fi. Librarian will also work with Technical Services in assisting with upgrades and other technology projects. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups of varying ages. Spanish/English bilingual desirable. Salary commensurate with experience.
