Position Summary/General Description:
- Work with vendors and librarians to investigate products and services that best serve libraries’ needs.
- Leverage the purchasing power of member libraries to procure deep discounts on desirable products and services for libraries of all sizes and types in all regions of the state.
- Develop, evaluate, and manage numerous statewide contracts for discounts and cooperative purchasing.
- Perform complex contract negotiation duties and ensure vendor compliance with contract specifications.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Graduate coursework in library science and/or business administration a plus.
- Experience working at public, academic, school, and/or special libraries, particularly in the areas of collection development and/or technology, highly desirable.
- Knowledge of negotiation strategies and techniques.
- Experience writing/overseeing vendor contracts, with solid understanding of key contract terminology.
- Knowledge of current trends in library products and services, and commitment to staying informed about emerging technologies.
- Excellent analytical, customer service, problem resolution, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Able to work on concurrent tasks while effectively prioritizing and coordinating work assignments.
- Proficient with MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Willing to travel.
