Information Literacy Librarian - University of New Haven Library. The University of New Haven Library seeks a librarian with strong teaching skills and a firm commitment to providing exceptional service to our faculty and students. The Information Literacy Librarian, in collaboration with library and departmental faculty, is responsible for designing, teaching and promoting the information literacy curriculum within an outcomes assessment and skills-based model. This librarian works in a team with other instruction librarians to implement a multi-faceted instruction program. In addition, this librarian will participate in reference services for on-site and distance education students and faculty. The Information Literacy Librarian collaborates with others to produce a variety of informational and instructional materials, including library guides, web-based tutorials, and postings to our course management system, Blackboard. The Librarian will serve as a liaison to a specific College(s) serving a number of disciplines/programs; provide information literacy instruction and monitor collection development in those areas; keep up with current electronic and print resources in subject areas assigned; evaluate and select library materials; and handle other collection development tasks including weeding. This position reports to the Senior Information Literacy Librarian. Qualifications: MLS degree in library and/or information science from an ALA accredited library school required. 1 year of Reference Desk experience required, preferably in an academic library. 1 year of library instruction/information literacy experience or comparable teaching experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills required. Online database searching skills and computer literacy are necessary. Demonstrated ability to work collegially and professionally with all levels of staff is essential. Strong interpersonal and team building skills with the ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment are necessary. The ability to learn and implement new technologies is needed. Demonstrated knowledge of issues, trends and technologies in information literacy is expected. Previous experience in marketing information literacy programs to faculty desired. This position includes evening and weekend hours. The salary is above the current CLA minimum. Applications accepted until position is filled.
