Undergraduate User Experience-Media Technologies Librarian - University of Connecticut.  The Undergraduate User Experience-Media Technologies Librarian provides  leadership within the Libraries for investigating and recommending  strategies to enhance the learning experience of undergraduates at the  University of Connecticut. Under the general direction of the  Undergraduate Education Team Leader, and working in close collaboration  with the other members of the Undergraduate Education Team, the  incumbent investigates the learning needs, learning behaviors, and  communication technologies of the University's undergraduates and  initiates strategies to make both the physical and its virtual  counterpart ever more vibrant and engaging destinations for these users.  This position will be fully involved in the team's work to design and  conduct assessments of undergraduates that range from traditional online  surveys to usability testing, ethnographic and other qualitative  assessment approaches. With the expansion of digital scholarship and the  dominance of Web-based information in general, this position is  responsible for developing learning tools that pull on the full spectrum  of video and other interactive media technologies, be they mobile  applications, interactive Web interfaces, audio- and visual media,  mapping or other emerging technologies. This position contributes to the  team's ongoing information literacy efforts by participating in  classroom, individual, and virtual instruction in the Learning Commons,  the Library's electronic classrooms, and online through internet-based  research assistance and free-standing educational modules and sites. The  incumbent will be involved in the ongoing assessment of information  literacy work and the resulting changes to the Library's information  literacy practices. As User Experience Media Technologies Librarian,  this position is expected to fully participate in the design and  implementation of outreach to prospective and incoming students and to  the larger campus community. It is fully expected that the incumbent  will collaborate with appropriate campus partners including the  Institute for Teaching and Learning, the Distance Education program, the  First Year Programs. This position requires an afternoon and evening  schedule during fall/spring semesters. Some weekend hours will also be  required during academic terms. Evening/weekend flexibility is  mandatory. Minimum Qualifications for University Librarian I or II: A  graduate degree in Library and Information Science from a program  accredited by the American Library Association; work experience in a  library setting; demonstrated working knowledge of current technology,  software, and automated library systems; demonstrated leadership and  communication skills; demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills  with ability to think strategically, be forward thinking, and embrace  change; demonstrated experience working in a team environment;  willingness to travel and work a flexible schedule; and experience with  instructing individuals or groups. Additional Requirements for  University Librarian II: Generally a minimum of three (3) years of  related experience; experience managing a budget for a department,  project, team, or committee; and evidence of increasing involvement in  professional development activities outside the University. Preferred  Qualifications: Experience assessing library programs and services;  experience in usability testing; experience investigating user behavior  using quantitative and/or qualitative methods; experience assessing  undergraduate information literacy skills development; experience  creating videos and/or other multimedia applications to provide user  education; and experience with desktop publishing. This is a full-time  position, approximately 35 hrs/wk. This position requires an afternoon  and evening schedule during fall/spring semesters.
