Library Project Staff (Temporary) - The Donohue Group, Inc.

Library Project Staff (Temporary) - The Donohue Group, Inc. (DGI) has multiple full- and part-time contract positions available (20-37.5 hours/week) for cataloging / barcoding project in university library (New Haven, CT). Project is expected to begin in October/November 2010, and will continue for approximately 2 years. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday between 8:30a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Library Assistant - Duties: Searching library databases for bibliographic MARC record to match item in hand; affixing barcodes; adding holdings and item records. DGI will provide some training. Experienced assistants will also create brief MARC records with the use of templates. Qualifications: Job requires individual with extreme attention to detail, a willingness to ask questions, and the ability to adapt to changing project specifications. Productivity and accuracy will be monitored and must be maintained. Successful candidates will work well in a team environment, be able to get up to speed quickly and be able to navigate smoothly through various software programs. Candidates able to commit to the full project timeline will be given preference. Candidates must have previous MARC cataloging experience to be considered at a higher level of pay. Library school students encouraged to apply.
  • Library Clerk - Duties: Retrieving and re-shelving books and documents in library stack area; barcode scanning and application; shrink-wrapping of volumes. One supervisory clerk position is available to assist project managers with library clerk staff supervision, work flow coordination, record keeping, and statistics. Qualifications: Must be detail-oriented, with ability to work well with library call number systems and/or filing schemes. Job requires heavy lifting (15-25 lbs.), shifting of books and the ability/stamina to climb ladders. Job requires computer literacy and an individual with a willingness to ask questions and ability to adapt to changing project specifications. Productivity and accuracy will be monitored and must be maintained. Successful candidates will work well in a team environment and be able to get up to speed quickly. Candidates able to commit to the full project timeline will be given preference.
Salary levels: Library Assistant, $12.00 - $15.00 per hour; Library Clerk, $10.00 per hour ($12.00 per hour for supervisory clerk position).
