City Librarian - New Haven Free Public Library. Full-time position with competitive salary and benefits. Deadline for priority consideration of application: June 25, 2010. The City Librarian reports to a 9-member Board of Directors appointed by the Mayor and works closely with city and state officials, community groups, and a Patrons group that leads external fundraising. The library enjoys solid support in the community. The successful new City Librarian will be an enthusiastic, service-oriented leader well-versed in library trends and the opportunities of new technology; have an MLS from an accredited ALA institution or combination of graduate or undergraduate degree in an applicable field of study with 10 or more years of experience in professional library work; 3 to 5 years experience in adminis tration and direction, including authority of personnel; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the management, administrative and supervisory foundation needed to keep the New Haven Free Public Library the City's number one information center and a continuing catalyst for New Haven's civic renaissance. Residency in the City of New Haven is required within six months of appointment.
