Librarian, Information Services (Librarian I) - Russell Library, Middletown. Our Excellence Award-winning Library has an opening for the position of Librarian 1 in our Information Services Department. We seek a library professional who is customer service oriented and demonstrates proven research and computer skills. Experience in planning and implementing business and career programs is a plus, as is prior supervisory experience. The position requires overseeing volunteer and part-time staff, especially in the carrying out of business and career services. The Librarian will be part of the Information Services Department and must be able to work as a team member toward shared Library and departmental goals. The Librarian will handle a variety of tasks, including reference service to the public in a very busy work environment, while remaining positive and energetic. Flexibility in scheduling is important since the Library is open 6 days per week for 63 hours. Applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Library Science and some working or internship experience in a public library. The position requires a solid knowledge of current computer applications and resources, and the ability to teach this information to the public and staff. A Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator’s license is desirable. Salary range begins at: $44,537. Starting date: July 19, 2010 (approx).
