Library Director - Acton Public Library, Old Saybrook

Library Director - Acton Public Library, Old Saybrook, Connecticut. The Board of Directors of the Acton Public Library seeks an experienced, thoughtful and energetic library leader to become our next director. You will join our team of 22 staff (11 FTE), an experienced and engaged board and a committed group of community volunteers and Friends to expand on our tradition of service. First settled in 1635, the town of Old Saybrook is situated at the mouth of the Connecticut River, where the River meets Long Island Sound. The library, named a "Star Library" by the Library Journal in 2009, serves a primary population of 10,500 and a summertime population of 25,000. An addition and renovation in 2003 increased our square footage to 21,400, a home to 74,000 volumes. Annual circulation averages 190,000, over 25,000 people use our program rooms and 26,000 access our computers. Candidates should have an ALA-accredited MLS degree and experience as a public library department head or administrator. Program and budget presentation skills are a plus, as well as excellent interpersonal skills, a hands-on work ethic and knowledge of emerging technologies.
