Executive Director - Lenox Library Association (MA)
Executive Director - Lenox Library Association, Lenox, Massachusetts. The Lenox Library Association seeks an innovative and energetic leader as its next Executive Director, who is capable of shaping and articulating a collective vision of the Library's future and effectively guiding the organization towards its fulfillment. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to continue the Library's tradition of offering programs and services that actively position and promote it throughout the community as well as to explore new opportunities to both enhance services and attract support. The Lenox Library Association occupies a unique position, functioning as both a public library and an independent, non-profit organization. While an annual town appropriation provides about 40% of the annual operating budget, the remainder of the nearly $600,000 budget is self-generated through fundraising and some endowment income. The Lenox Library also enjoys a geographic and demographic diversity of users drawn from over 32 communities in a three state region as well as visitors and second-home owners from metropolitan New York and Boston. In a town with a fixed population of 5,100, the Library draws over 50,000 people annually. Its historic, national landmark building underwent a $3.5 million renovation and restoration in 2004. It is a highly utilized, up-to-date facility with per capita use and financial support among the highest in Massachusetts. Qualifications will include: an MLS from an ALA accredited program with a minimum of five years of increasingly responsible administrative library experience; excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to forge effective relationships with individuals and groups as needed to support Library programs and services. Demonstrated experience in marketing and fundraising is highly desirable. For a complete job description and information about the Lenox Library Association and the Lenox community and Berkshire region, please go to http://lenoxlib.org.
