Director of Library Services - [#C08-130] Central Connecticut State University, an urban, comprehensive public institution that serves 12,000 students in the greater Hartford area, invites applications for the position of Director of Library Services. The Elihu Burritt Library houses a collection of 800,000 volumes, provides access to 2,200 print and many more electronic journals, and has a budget of $2,300,000. The Director oversees 34 library faculty and staff, in addition to numerous student assistants. For further information about the Burritt Library, please visit: http://library.ccsu.edu. We seek an innovative, energetic leader who will establish the Library as the center of the campus intellectual community, while fostering a collaborative relationship between students, faculty, and staff. In this position, you will manage the fiscal administration of the Library, including preparation of the annual budget, establishment and maintenance of appropriate budgetary procedures, and work with Library staff to prepare departmental budgets. The Director provides leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate University-wide Library services appropriate for an academic library, hires, supervises, and evaluates Library faculty and staff, develops collaborative relationships with academic departments, Information Technology Services, and library consortia, and ensures compliance with academic and accreditation standards. The incumbent will also promote University-wide information fluency standards and efficient use of Library learning resources, supervise and provide support to Library departments to ensure the maintenance of quality services, strong collections, and programs, actively advocate for the needs of the Library, promoting its services to the University community and beyond, and oversee the preparation of proposals and applications for external funding. Qualifications: Master's degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited Master of Library Science (MLS) program or equivalent plus six years of experience in academic library administration required. Demonstrated knowledge of technological applications and trends in university libraries and the ability to formulate and implement library services policies and procedures, manage complex budgets, and supervise faculty and staff are required. Credentials and/or experience substantially comparable to the above may also be considered.
