Associate Library Director - Examples of Duties: Assists the Director in implementing the Long-Range Plan for 2006-2010; Coordinates and manages Sunday operations (approximately 26 Sundays a year); Directs the operations of the Branch libraries, and works closely with grant-funding agencies on special grants received for programs at the branches; Directs public relations, special events, and promotional activities for the library; responsible for marketing plan; Acts as liaison to some school and community groups; Manages and coordinates Library volunteers; Drafts and recommends policies to the Library Board, as directed; Helps plan Staff Development Day and other training events, as requested, and works with Director on staff hiring, evaluation, and training issues; Prepares grant applications and reports, and may serve as project director; Responsible for supervising Custodians and many building maintenance functions, including HVAC, phones, interfacing with Town's Public Works Dept; May monitor expenditures of departmental fund allocations through internal reports and may supervise the Library's Business Office; Prepares special reports as needed; analyzes statistical data to determine service priorities; Staffs Reference and Circulation Desks at Miller on regular basis, and staffs branches occasionally; Attends Library Board meetings. Supervision Received: Works under the general direction of the Director, or Library Board in Director's absence. Supervision Exercised: Supervises professional, paraprofessional, technical maintenance and clerical staff as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: A Master's Degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university and four years' post graduate degree experience in professional library work, including at least 2 years providing advanced level professional library services and supervising professional librarians. Salary and Benefits: This position is within the Supervisor's Union, and the entry level salary is $53,021, which rises to $63,773 after four years under the current contract.
