Librarian I - Westport Library

Librarian I - Westport Library is seeking a Librarian I who will play an important role in helping make the Library a stimulating place for people of all ages to engage, connect and utilize all the best resources. He/she will be a wizard at teaching patrons and staff how to use technology from e-readers to on-line databases; will design and deliver “how-to” training and innovative offerings, and will develop content for the web and social media. This is the ideal position for an engaging professional who understands patrons' needs and enjoys connecting them with the right solutions and who is a sleuth at heart. The successful candidate will enjoy working side by side with people in the community to showcase the best assets of each library patron. The selected candidate will be excited to develop and learn in a fast-paced changing environment; will have an MLS degree from an ALA accredited university; progressive experience in a library or similar knowledge-based environment; advanced computer skills and proven experience developing and delivering creative programs. A willingness to help and work in any area of the library; outstanding interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication and research skills is required. Availability to work evenings and weekends, as required. Starting salary is $ 62,303 dependent on experience. Deadline for applications is Friday, May 15, 2014.
