Systems Librarian - Fairfield University

Systems Librarian - The DiMenna-Nyselius Library at Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT, seeks an energetic, innovative, self-motivated Systems Librarian with a vision and enthusiasm for the future of library information technology to join the service-oriented library technology team. RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as the primary person to provide expertise and support a variety of library systems including but not limited to the integrated library system, proxy server, interlibrary loan system, self-check station, and mobile site; analyzes, maintains and enhances systems for optimal productivity through functional support, staff training, and customization; performs database maintenance and ensures data integrity, ad-hoc scripting and report writing; assists Head of Digital Services and Technology Planning with strategic planning for library technology needs. QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in library science or related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for some of the required education. 3-5 years demonstrated experience administering library systems, such as Millennium, EZproxy, and ILLiad. Strong knowledge of Windows and IIS; working knowledge of network protocols; proficiency with relational databases, web scripting languages such as HTML and XML, Javascript, Perl or PHP. Effective written and verbal communication skills for a variety of audiences with different technical backgrounds; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and vendors. Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills to set priorities and manage multiple tasks. Highly Desirable: experience administering and maintaining III’s Millennium, load profile, and business functional support in acquisitions, circulation, cataloging and public access; commitment to responsive and innovative service; creative and flexible, with a keen interest in exploring and implementing emerging technologies to enhance library systems and services.
