     ADJUNCT FACULTY  FULFILLMENT SERVICES LIBRARIAN (max 19 hours per week). Under the direction of the Access Services Librarian, oversees operation of the Haas Library Circulation desk, monitors libraries’ interlibrary loan and resource sharing queues and responds to requests as appropriate. Provides LSP training for all Access Services staff, Implements and evaluates stacks maintenance processes and procedures, including shelving, shifting, paging, and inventory; Provides traditional and virtual reference and research assistance to the university community as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by the Access Services Librarian, must be willing to work holidays, evenings, and weekends. Research Services Librarian - UConn Library

Research Services Librarian - The UConn Library seeks a collaborative and proactive individual to serve as the Research Services Librarian for psychological sciences, kinesiology, and other associated subject areas. The Research Services Librarian is responsible for connecting UConn Library collections, services, and spaces to patrons in support of research, scholarship, teaching, and learning. The Research Services Librarian engages in ongoing outreach and communication with students and faculty and contributes to the advancement of the UConn Library through collaborating with colleagues, partnering with stakeholders, and engaging with Library-wide initiatives.
     Along with all UConn Library personnel, the successful candidate makes a positive contribution to a culture of inclusion and respect in all interactions within the Library and across the University and exemplifies the UConn Library values of kindness and trust, curiosity and inquiry, equity and inclusion, and having fun. The Research Services Librarian reports to the Head of Research Services in the Academic Engagement area.
     Responsibilities: Serves as the librarian to a range of departments and centers, including Psychological Sciences and Kinesiology, supporting and advancing evidence-based practice, working with students, faculty, and staff, maintaining knowledge of subject areas and constituent needs. Engages in outreach to stakeholders on campus, continuing to integrate the UConn Library into curricular and co-curricular efforts. Designs and teaches instructional sessions, including subject-based information literacy instruction. Provides research support, including in-depth research consultations. May collaborate on comprehensive systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and grants, and provide instruction related to systematic reviews. Assists stakeholders in using citation management tools such as RefWorks. Engages in collection development, management, and assessment, coordinating and collaborating with UConn Library colleagues. Works closely with UConn Library colleagues to advance Library-wide programs, initiatives and interdisciplinary efforts. Collaborates with UConn Library colleagues on UConn regional campuses (Avery Point, Hartford, Stamford, and Waterbury) and in Archives and Special Collections to explore and meet stakeholder needs. Engages in professional development and continuing education and is active in professional associations related to the work of the position.

     Minimum Qualifications for Librarian 1: A graduate degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association-accredited institution (or an international equivalent). Demonstrated ability to align current library tools, services, and opportunities to support learning, research, publications, and scholarship among constituents. Demonstrated public service skills and strong commitment to customer service. Evidence of reliable, effective, and professional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to make a positive contribution to a culture of inclusion and respect in all interactions within the Library and across the University. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with an open approach to problem-solving and recommending, implementing, and supporting solutions.
     Additional Minimum Qualifications for Appointment as a Librarian 2: Minimum of three years professional related experience. Demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining effective and appropriate working relationships with internal and external audiences.
     Preferred Qualifications for Librarian 1 and 2: Work experience in an academic library. Demonstrated instruction or presentation skills. Experience with comprehensive systematic reviews and meta-analyses adhering to contemporary best practice. Demonstrated knowledge of scholarly communication ecosystems. Experience with citation management tools. Demonstrated involvement in professional development.

Director of Library Services - Town of West Hartford

Job Purpose: The Director of Library Services is the chief administrative officer for the town of West Hartford’s library system and performs a variety of managerial, administrative, and professional library duties including providing leadership for planning, directing, and coordinating all activities related to the operation of the library. As head of a town department, the Director works directly with the Town Manager and across other town departments to coordinate operations, town financing and budgeting, and implementation of town policies and initiatives for both the library and other town departments. As the chief public spokesperson and representative of the Library, the Director is responsible for relations with the community, government and partnering organizations.
     Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA accredited college or university and eight years of experience in professional library work that includes five years supervisory experience.
     Job Operation: As provided by the Town Charter, the Director of Library Services is appointed and removed by the Library Board and is responsible to the Board for the library system including implementation of the policies established by the Board. As the head of a town department, the Director works with the Town Manager and is responsible to the town for the operational aspects of the library system including implementation of town policies. Work is primarily performed in a business office setting and is accomplished independently, subject to the policies established by the Library Board and the Town of West Hartford. The position requires travel to the three locations of the town’s library system, other town departments and to out-of-town meeting locations, as needed.

Interim State Librarian - Connecticut State Library

Interim State Librarian - Connecticut State Library. The Connecticut State Library Board is seeking a well-qualified candidate for the position of Interim State Librarian. This person will manage the State Library under the direction of the State Library Board while the Board conducts a search for and until it appoints a new State Librarian. The Interim State Librarian will be appointed by the Board and will not be considered for the permanent position of State Librarian. This will be a contracted position, and the individual selected will serve at the pleasure of the Board. The position is not considered State employment and does not carry any State employee benefits. It is anticipated that the appointment will last no longer than six months, except by mutual consent of the Interim State Librarian and the State Library Board.
     The scope of operations and services of the CT State Library includes: Legal and Legislative Reference; Federal and State Government Information; History and Genealogy; Discovery Services; Collection Management; the Division of Library Development; the Office of the Public Records Administrator; the State Archives; the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped; the Museum of Connecticut History and the library’s Fiscal Services unit.
     Purpose of the Interim State Librarian Position: The Interim State Librarian will report to and work in partnership with the State Library Board in furthering the mission, goals, and objectives of the State Library during the search for a permanent State Librarian.
     The Interim State Librarian will: serve as staff liaison to the State Library Board, providing support for activities of the Board and, at the Board’s request, the Search Committee seeking a permanent State Librarian, report regularly to the State Library Board Chair and Vice Chair and to the full Board at its Regular Meetings, keeping the Board fully informed of the condition of the organization and important factors influencing it, coordinate State Library Board meetings, work with the Board Chair to set and communicate agendas, and prepare documents for the Board as requested, direct the State Library on a day-to-day basis, coordinating with Division Heads and Specialists, maintain a knowledgeable, informed, and committed staff, working collaboratively with them to solve problems that may arise during the interim period, represent the State Library at State, regional, and national legislative and professional meetings as directed by the Board, ensure that the State Library follows all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations, change any existing services or policies, institute new programs or services, and hire new staff only with the expressed approval of or direction from the State Library Board, upon selection of a permanent State Librarian, work with the State Librarian Emeritus and the State Library Board to organize orientation and a smooth transition to the new administration
     Qualifications: Demonstrated experience managing a complex organization within a government or higher educational setting. Library management experience is preferred.
     Hours of Work and Compensation: The Interim State Librarian will work a minimum of four days per week (up to 32 hours) as directed by the Board, at an hourly rate of $50.00.

Executive Director - The Farmington Libraries

Executive Director - The Farmington Libraries is searching for a new Executive Director. The position reports to the Library Board of Trustees. This is a full time position with a competitive salary and benefits package.
     Introduction: The Town of Farmington is a residential suburb in the greater Hartford area, located along the scenic Farmington River. This historic town is home to 25,340 residents, scenic bike and walking trails, the Hill-Stead Museum and Stanley-Whitman House. The Farmington Libraries, while sharing a unique relationship with the Town of Farmington and the Farmington Village Green and Library Association (FVGLA), enjoy a strong community base, dedicated leadership, an excellent collection and an enthusiastic staff.
      The Executive Director: The Executive Director provides both strategic and tactical leadership to the Board, the Libraries’ working team and the Farmington community. This highly visible position requires a comprehensive understanding of library operations including management of library systems, human resources, facilities, information systems, communications and organizational operations. The Executive Director must possess effective interpersonal skills coupled with an ability to produce positive public relations outcomes. The Executive Director oversees an annual budget of nearly $3 million, and a staff of 14 full-time and 24 part-time positions.
      Responsibilities: Reporting to the Library Board of Trustees, the Executive Director oversees an organization where innovation and creativity are encouraged. The Executive Director’s responsibilities include all aspects of operations and administration, with full responsibility for personnel, fiscal management, the development of operating and capital budgets, and establishing partnerships throughout the community while working collaboratively with the Board, FVGLA, the Town of Farmington, as well as other agencies, community groups and businesses.
      Qualifications: A Master’s Degree in Library Science or Library Information Science from an ALA accredited program and five years of progressively responsible library administrative experience, including supervision of staff.
