Adjunct Library Faculty (multiple positions) - Western Connecticut State University

Adjunct Library Faculty (multiple positions) - Western Connecticut State University is currently recruiting for four (4) new adjunct library faculty positions. Anticipated start date is August 2020, depending on budget and university status. Application deadline for all positions: May 29, 2020. 

     ADJUNCT FACULTY  FULFILLMENT SERVICES LIBRARIAN (max 19 hours per week). Under the direction of the Access Services Librarian, oversees operation of the Haas Library Circulation desk, monitors libraries’ interlibrary loan and resource sharing queues and responds to requests as appropriate. Provides LSP training for all Access Services staff, Implements and evaluates stacks maintenance processes and procedures, including shelving, shifting, paging, and inventory; Provides traditional and virtual reference and research assistance to the university community as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by the Access Services Librarian, must be willing to work holidays, evenings, and weekends. Required qualifications include ALA accredited Master’s degree, prior professional experience in an Access Services department, prior professional experience using integrated library systems and working in an academic library setting providing reference and instruction, knowledge of cataloging standards and bibliographic utilities, excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.      ADJUNCT FACULTY – RESEARCH SERVICES LIBRARIAN (max 19 hours per week). Provides traditional and virtual reference and research assistance to the university community, instructs students, faculty, and staff in the general use of library materials and accessing online information resources, assists in the creation of research guides and other educational material. In the absence of a full-time librarian, may supervise library clerks and technicians. Performs other duties as assigned by the Public Services Librarian. Must be willing to work holidays, evenings, and weekends. Required qualifications: ALA accredited Master’s degree, prior professional experience with library reference and instruction and integrated library systems, proficiency with library, educational, and instructional technologies, excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.      ADJUNCT FACULTY – MARKETING AND OUTREACH LIBRARIAN (max 19 hours per week). Develops informational material and social media initiatives which promote library resources, goals, services, and news to a variety of audiences; implements outreach efforts, exhibits, and events; assists in the assessment of library outreach and advocacy programming; provides traditional and virtual reference and research assistance to the university community; supervises social media intern(s). In the absence of a full-time librarian, may supervise library clerks and technicians. Performs other duties as assigned by the Student Success Librarian. Must be willing to work holidays, evenings, and weekends. Required qualifications: ALA accredited Master’s degree, prior experience developing and implementing library programs and outreach initiatives, proficiency using social media platforms, knowledge of mark-up languages, graphic and website design, prior professional experience in an academic library setting providing reference and instruction, proficiency with library, educational, and instructional technologies, excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.      ADJUNCT FACULTY – BIBLIOGRAPHIC INSTRUCTION LIBRARIAN (max 19 hours per week). Provides individual, group, and classroom instruction in the use of information resources, both in-person and virtually, consults with instructional faculty on the integration of library resources with the learning process, assists in the creation of educational material, including research guides, audiovisual files, digital formats, and other assorted online content, provides traditional and virtual reference and research assistance to the university community. In the absence of a full-time librarian, may supervise library clerks and technicians. Performs other duties as assigned by the Public Services Librarian. Must be willing to work holidays, evenings, and weekends. Required qualifications: ALA accredited Master’s degree, knowledge of and experience with teaching strategies and practices, both in-person and virtual, prior professional experience in an academic library setting providing reference and instruction, fluency in library, instructional, and educational technologies, including learning management systems like Blackboard, excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
