Teen Services Librarian (full-time, 35 hours/week) – The E.C. Scranton Memorial Library
The E.C. Scranton Memorial Library,
located in the beautiful coastal town of Madison, CT (population
18,000) seeks a dynamic, team-oriented Teen Services Librarian. Duties
include developing print and digital collections for teens, providing
reference and reader’s advisory services to teens, parents, and
teachers, collaborating with the Madison Public Schools and other local
youth services agencies, updating and maintaining the teen page on the
website, and working regular shifts at the adult information desk. This
position is also responsible for planning, publicizing and implementing
library programs for teens as well as collaborating with the Children
and Adult Services Librarians to provide multi-age, library-wide
programs. Qualified candidates must have an MLS from an ALA-accredited
institution, knowledge of current trends and best practices in teen
library service, familiarity with the developmental, recreational and
educational needs of teens, the ability to learn and stay current with
emerging technologies, excellent customer service skills, and strong
written and verbal communication skills. Public library experience and a
working knowledge of the Millennium iii integrated library system a
plus. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Starting salary is
$48,230 with generous health, vacation, and retirement benefits.
Schedule includes evenings and rotating Saturday and Sunday hours.
