Library Director - Stonington Free Library

The Board of Trustees of the Stonington Free Library in Stonington, CT is seeking an innovative, energetic and forward thinking individual for the full time position of Library Director. This role provides a unique opportunity for a passionate and visionary individual to build on the library’s current strengths and to identify opportunities to shape the organization’s future. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of library administration from managing the day-to-day operations of the library and supervising a staff of 12 full and part time professionals to budget preparation, policy making, and community outreach. Qualifications: Master’s degree in library and information science preferred. Five plus years of public library experience, serving patrons of all ages supported by a knowledge of emerging technologies with applications in library services, collection and program development, financial management and strategic planning. Equivalent experiences will be considered. Ability to communicate complex concepts orally and in writing, or in presentations. Considerable ability to interact with the general public, elected and appointed officials, outside organizations and professional associations. Ability to supervise staff, to coordinate and plan workloads, to delegate work appropriately, and to carry out the directions of the library Board. Ability to articulate a clear vision of library services in the 21st century. Salary range TBD commensurate with qualifications and experience.
