Librarian, Reference & Instructional Services (Half-Time) - Pope Pius XII Library, St. Joseph College, West Hartford, CT. The librarian will deliver sophisticated information services using library resources for the weekday evenings and Sunday library schedule during the academic year. Responsibilities include in-depth consultation services, class instruction, and liaison for one school. Work as part of an information services team. A self-motivated, enthusiastic and user-oriented librarian is being sought. RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to): Provide proactive customer-oriented service, including library instruction, for the college. Provide general reference services during evenings and Sundays. Manage the evening and Sunday operations of the Pope Pius XII Library. Provide backup for other public services, including reserves and circulation, when needed. Serve as the library liaison to one of the five schools. Assemble reports, recommend resources and develop outreach to the school faculty and students. Work closely with the information services team to develop and deliver consistent instruction and research services tailored to in-person, near-distance and remote learners. Other responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s of Library Science from an ALA accredited institution required. Teaching experience preferred. Subject background in health or life sciences preferred. Ability to interact effectively with students, co-workers, and external contacts. Strong customer service orientation. Demonstrated teaching ability. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Possess general computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows environment. Solid working knowledge of academic library and reference applications required; familiarity with other specific applications used by the College a plus. Physical ability to perform essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. GRADE 11. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
