Head, Circulation Services Department - Russell Library, Middletown, CT. Our Connecticut Excellence Award-winning Library has an opening for the position of Department Head of our Circulation Services Department. Russell Library seeks a leader who encourages teamwork and mutual respect among staff members so they may carry out Library services to the public in a positive and effective manner. The candidate must be a library professional who has a proven record of supervisory experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and solid experience in collection development. The Circulation Services Department Head manages and develops a team dedicated to serving a diverse public in a busy environment that circulates 670,000+ items per year. The Circulation Services Department Head: Supervises a staff of approximately 20 full- and part-time employees. Plans and manages the circulation of materials, registration of borrowers, interlibrary loans, and is responsible for maintenance of the adult circulating book collection. Develops and documents circulation-related procedures and advises the Director and Assistant Director in regard to related policies. Arranges scheduling of adequate staffing and is in charge of stack maintenance and management of fines and fees. Is responsible for lobby and book stack displays, public bulletin board, and community information display racks. Selects materials for the adult fiction collection. Applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Library Science and five years of progressively responsible experience in library work, including three years in a lead position within a department. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with library staff and patrons is essential. Knowledge or experience with RFID, library security systems, or self check out is a plus. A Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator’s license is desirable. Salary range starts at $56,921, with excellent benefits.
