Library Director - The Town of Wilbraham, MA (pop. 14,219) Library, through its elected Board of Library Trustees, seeks an innovative and energetic full-time library director to direct and manage all operations and activities of the actively used Wilbraham Public Library (circulation 190,000). The director oversees all library programs and services and is responsible for maintaining and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of all library functions as defined by the library’s mission, long range plan, and policies. Responsible for all library staff, activities, and resources, the director oversees the development and delivery of library programs, collections, and services to meet individual and community needs. The director partners with the Library Trustees, the Friends of the Library, the Wilbraham Library Memorial-Endowment Fund, Library Improvements Fund for Tomorrow, town government, community groups, and local businesses to provide a community and patron-centered, technologically-innovative library with appropriate staffing and facilities to support present and future library services for the town of Wilbraham. The Wilbraham Public Library is in the third year of a phased renovation supported by public and private funding, and the director will be instrumental in moving this project forward. Applicants should possess practical expertise in leadership, personnel administration, budget management, library technology, grant writing, planning, and innovative library practices. Excellent computer and customer service skills, plus the ability to communicate effectively, motivate and develop staff, and promote community relations with municipal government and groups are required. Participation in regional, state and professional organizations is expected. Requirements: Masters Degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program. Five years of progressively responsible experience in library administration and staff supervision, preferably as a library director. Eligibility for Professional Certification from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners for towns of 10,000 or more population. Hiring salary range $48,704 to $56,821 plus benefits.
