Archivist/Librarian - The Mohegan Tribe, Uncasville

Archivist/Librarian - Uncasville, Connecticut. The Mohegan Tribe seeks an experienced professional to oversee the archive and library in our new Community Center & Government Building. The library serves 2,000 tribal members and the Archivist/Librarian will develop programs of interest to children and adults of this community. The archive includes over 1500 rare documents, maps and 3-D materials dating back to the 16th century and the library contains 7000 volumes. The Archivist/Librarian is under the direction of the Executive Director of Cultural and Community Programs and the Mohegan Council of Elders. Prospective candidates must be knowledgeable in Eastern Woodlands Native American culture. The position requires a working knowledge of Society of American Archivists (SAA) standards, strong demonstrated writing skills, and experience in developing and maintaining databases. Successful candidate must pass the background check in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act (ICPA). Minimum qualifications are possession of a Masters of Library Science OR Masters of Library and Information Science OR international equivalent. Salary is based on qualifications and experience; the start of the range is $56,618.
