School Library Media Specialist, Elementary Level - Cheshire Public Schools. Directly teach students in Grades 1-6, using state standards, formative assessment, and best practices teaching and learning strategies. Collaborate with other district librarians to develop benchmark assessments and library research performance tasks and rubrics. Assist students with print and electronic research and problem-solving. Teach Internet safety and search skills. Sustain and build the school's library collection. Enhance, with teachers and principals, positive and life-long reading habits and attitudes in all students. Develop an atmosphere in the library that is welcoming and communicates expectations for analytic thinking, questioning, intellectual curiosity, and the pursuit of credible evidence. QUALIFICATIONS: Connecticut teaching certificate or the ability to qualify, with appropriate endorsement(s) and expertise in curriculum sub-areas. (Certificate #062 or 048).
