Children’s Librarian - SEARCH REOPENED. The West Haven Public Library, West Haven, CT, seeks a full time (37.5 hours) service oriented Children’s Librarian. Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Assistant Director, duties include: planning and supervising staff and volunteers; reference service assistance to children and young adults through print and electronic resources; develop and coordinate children and YA activities and programs to promote library use; reader’s advisory to children, YA, parents and teachers; outreach to schools; collections development; evaluate and select books and materials. Requirements: MLS from an ALA accredited program. Prefer 3-5 years of increasingly responsible children’s librarianship in a public library; excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills; demonstrated computer literacy. Two evenings and every other Saturday rotation required. Salary commensurate with experience.
