Librarian - Norwalk Community College

Librarian - Norwalk Community College. Community College Professional 18, 12-month, tenure track position. Starting Date: February 2010. Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution and one (1) year experience as a professional librarian required. Additional experience as a professional librarian and experience in teaching and leading or supervising others preferred. A strong commitment to public services and information literacy instruction and a demonstrated understanding of the mission of the comprehensive community college and its diverse commuter student population is essential. A demonstrated ability to create web-related resources is required. A demonstrated ability to work collegially and professionally with all levels of staff is required. A demonstrated ability to be effective in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills is required. Strong computer and information management skills are required. Knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel as well as HTML is preferred. A successful candidate must be able to work at least one evening per week. Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Director of Library Services, the Librarian performs a full range of professional responsibilities including information literacy instruction; reference services; original and copy cataloging; inter-library loan management; collection development; circulation management; acquisitions; teaching students and faculty in groups or individually in the use of academic library resources; develop and update library guides; and develop strategies for expanding utilization of the library collections. The incumbent is expected to represent the College in a positive manner. Minimum Salary $56,057 approximate annual, plus excellent State medical insurance, retirement and related fringe benefits.
