Associate University Librarian - University of Bridgeport

Associate University Librarian - Magnus Wahlstrom Library, University of Bridgeport. Summary: The Associate University Librarian reports to the University Librarian, and plays a key role in providing operational oversight and strategic input for the Department Administrative, Reference, Technical Services, and Access Services functions. The Magnus Wahlstrom Library is a dynamic, service oriented department staffed with innovative and energetic individuals that utilize new technology platforms. The Associate University Librarian must provide a leadership role in this strong team environment, including interaction with Deans and faculty both individually and through committee membership. An important duty is the development and management of the Library budget process and liaison with vendors. The incumbent also assumes the role of Collection Development Officer, working to ensure that the Library maintains a balance of appropriate resources as it moves to a digital delivery/new media focus within a new learning commons model. Duties & Responsibilities: Assists University Librarian in developing Library vision and implementing new services through innovative decision making. Working with Library Coordinator, oversees budget lifecycle, establishing processes and forms using electronic tools. Participates with colleagues to develop technology strategy and implementation path. Supervises daily operations of Library functional areas. Acts as Collection Development Officer, working closely with librarians and faculty. Responsible for space planning. Consulting with Library staff and the University community, recommends Library policies and procedures for all areas that comply with general University policies. Ensures documentation is complete and up to date. Administers student work study programs. Other work related duties as assigned by the Director. Qualifications: Masters Degree in Library or Information Science. 5 years progressive management experience in an Academic library. Proven supervisory experience. Energetic, Demonstrated ability to work in teams, flexible and able to acquire new skills Demonstrated understanding and proficiency in Library Science concepts and current techniques. Understanding of ACRL best practices and Information Literacy competencies. Experience with academic accreditation standards requirements process. Familiarity with Information Literacy curriculum design and delivery. Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office Suite and ILS system. Experience with ExLibris software, federated searching, article linking, and Docline strongly preferred. Excellent communication skills, including speaking to groups. This position exceeds the CLA recommended minimum salary.
