Instruction & Reference Librarian - Southern CT State University

Instruction & Reference Librarian - Southern Connecticut State University, Hilton C. Buley Library. Temporary One Year Appointment. The Instruction & Reference Librarian participates in library instruction programming, integrating the use of print, media, and electronic sources into the university curriculum. The librarian will provide reference service in a cooperative centralized reference environment. May serve as liaison with two or more academic departments, developing library collections in those areas. Provides general and subject-specific instruction, creates instructional materials and web pages, and participates in evening and weekend reference rotation. Required Qualifications: ALA accredited M.L.S., or equivalent. Minimum of one year of professional experience in public services in an academic library setting. Knowledge of current issues and practices, emerging technologies and innovations, and national trends in reference and instruction. Experience with a wide variety of print and electronic reference materials. Ability to work creatively and collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and colleagues; commitment to public service and information literacy. Excellent oral and written communication/presentation skills. Recent bibliographic teaching experience preferred.
