Library Project Staff - The Donohue Group

Library Project Staff (Temporary) - The Donohue Group, Inc. (DGI) has multiple full and part-time contract positions available (20-37.5 hours/week) for cataloging/barcoding project in university library (New Haven, CT). Project scheduled to begin in early October 2008 and will continue for approximately 18 months.
  • Library Clerk - Duties: Retrieving and re-shelving books and documents in library stack area; barcode scanning and application. Qualifications: Must be detail-oriented, with ability to work well with library call number systems and/or filing schemes. Job requires some heavy lifting (15-25 lbs.), shifting of books and the ability to climb ladders. Job requires computer literacy. Salary: $8 - $10 per hour.
  • Library Assistant - Duties: Searching library databases for bibliographic record to match item in hand, affixing barcodes, and adding holdings and item records. Qualifications: Job requires individual with extreme attention to detail. Productivity and accuracy will be monitored and must be maintained. Successful candidates will work well in a team environment, be able to get up to speed quickly and be able to navigate smoothly through various software programs. Salary: $11 - $13 per hour.
  • Experienced Library Assistant - Duties: Searching library databases for bibliographic record to match item in hand and affixing barcodes; adding holdings and item records; creating brief MARC records with the use of templates. Qualifications: Candidates must have previous MARC cataloging experience. Job requires individual with extreme attention to detail. Productivity and accuracy will be monitored and must be maintained. Successful candidates will work well in a team environment, be able to get up to speed quickly and be able to navigate smoothly through various software programs. Salary: $13 - $15 per hour.

Library school students encouraged to apply. DGI will provide some training. Candidates able to commit to the full project timeline will be given preference.
