Children's Services Librarian - Holyoke (MA) Public Library

Children's Services Librarian - Holyoke (MA) Public Library. 35 hours a week. Salary: $30,115-$35,230 depending on experience. The Holyoke Public Library is seeking a dynamic, service-oriented individual to plan, develop, promote and provide services to children, young adults and their families. Responsibilities include children and young adult library services, collection development, programming, community outreach, reference, public relations, and grant writing. This full-time (35 hours/week) librarian supervises full- and part-time paraprofessional staff, assists patrons, selects materials, and develops and enhances heavily used children's services. Strong programming skills and the ability to reach out to the community are critical to this position. Demonstrated successful experience working with children in a library, learning or educational setting is required. Must be committed to customer service, and have strong written and verbal communication skills. Master's degree in library science from an accredited library school, with coursework in children's literature, children's library programming and storytelling, and child development, or significant courses towards MLIS is required. Familiarity with Spanish and experience working with children in the public library setting are preferred. Evening hours and a flexible schedule are possible.
