Library Director - Essex Library Association
Library Director - The Essex Library Association serves a community of 7,000 people from a recently expanded and renovated facility in the lower Connecticut River Valley. The Director reports to the Association's Board of Trustees and currently has a staff of nine well-qualified individuals. The Director is responsible for recommending and administering the Association's budget, maintaining the physical plant and grounds, overseeing the selection and circulation of materials, negotiating with vendors and service providers and ensuring that the library maintains appropriate automation and information technology systems and services. The Director supervises program development for adult patrons and children including lectures, language programs, film series, book clubs, concerts, children's story hours and activities and author's visits. Circulation is approaching 70,000 with a collection of 33,000 items. The library has 5,000 registered patrons and is a pro-active community center for many organizations and individuals. The Essex Library Association seeks a person with an MLS degree, four or more years of successful library management experience and the ability to work independently while supervising and motivating a professional staff. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to work with a diverse Board, community leaders and, of course, patrons are key requirements. Salary: $58,000 - $65,000 with benefits.
