Head of Information and Reference Services - Scranton Library, Madison

Head of Information and Reference Services - Scranton Library of Madison, CT seeks a creative, energetic, public service-oriented librarian to revitalize information and reference services for a technologically savvy suburban community of 18,658 population. The Library is planning a major expansion doubling in size, est. completion 2010. Duties include reference service assisting patrons in using print and online resources, individualized and group instruction in use of electronic resources, reader's advisory, supervising and troubleshooting public LAN, participating with a staff team in developing website content and in collection development of all material types. Also develop the application of innovative technologies to patron services. May provide outreach and programming to a variety of adult groups in the community. Position requires MLS from an ALA accredited institution and three years of professional library experience. Candidate must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, strong commitment to excellent public service, broad knowledge of current information services, trends, Internet and online resources, and current technology. Full-Time (35 hours per week) including evening and weekend hours in rotation schedule. Salary range starts at $48,800 depending on experience, plus excellent health and pension benefits.
