This full time hourly (35.0 hour) position requires
an individual with cataloging experience or equivalent coursework, and a
demonstrated practical knowledge of library services and procedures, Sierra or
other library systems, and database management. Collection
development experience preferred. Supervisory and customer service
experience required. Shared responsibility for overseeing
daily opening and closing procedures and directs staff in the absence of the
Director. Proficiency in
technology and in using Excel, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Operating System
preferred. Performs duties in other departments, participates in library
special group projects, and assists and instructs a diverse patron population
in using library services and technology. Candidate must possess
excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. A bachelor’s degree,
associate’s degree, or LTA certificate is preferred. Candidates with equivalent
experience may be considered.
Responsible for: selection and acquisition of materials, including print, electronic, and other formats, under the supervision of the Adult Services Librarian; cataloging and supervising processing of all materials for circulation; performs all bibliographic maintenance and physical processing activities; maintains bibliographic database and all bibliographic statistics; processing of Interlibrary Loan activities including those through ReQuest; receiving and checking in new materials; organization, maintenance, and withdrawal of materials; checking and processing of invoices; maintenance of materials budget; installation and configuration of some hardware and software; assisting library patrons with use of library resources and equipment; and training and supervision of part-time staff and volunteers as necessary.
