Part-time Educational Assistant, Media Assistant (Level 14) - Housatonic Community College, Bridgeport. 2 positions. Anticipated Start Date: March 2014 - Appointment contingent upon funding approval. Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree and one year of experience in a related field. Excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral communication are required, allowing incumbent to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students. Must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Candidates must be proficient in both Mac and PC platforms, have an understanding of technology in teaching and learning, and possess media literacy skills. Incumbent must be able to push and lift objects up to 50 lbs, and be able to climb a ladder up to 10 feet. Exceptions to the degree requirements may be made for compelling reasons. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a higher education setting. Proficiency in iMovie and advanced working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro. Demonstrated experience with digital film and images, computer software, hardware, and a familiarity with videography and post-production editing preferred. Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Media Services, the Media Specialist: Assists instructors during classes when they are having problems with technology. Provides advice and assistance to faculty, staff and students in the operation of instructional technologies and media-related equipment. Assists in troubleshooting of classroom multimedia equipment and general maintenance of media-rich spaces throughout the College’s two-building campus. Provides assistance to faculty, staff and students in the production of multimedia materials to communicate ideas and information, for use both in the classroom and throughout the college community. Other duties as assigned. The part-time (8 hours per week) position of Media Assistant requires a flexible work schedule, including a minimum of two evenings per week and may include weekends on occasion. Hourly Rate: $22.62 per hour.
