Reference Librarian - Asnuntuck Community College, EnfieldPart time position up to 17 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, with an anticipated starting date of Fall 2021.
     POSITION SUMMARY: The Reference Librarian interacts extensively with students, faculty and members of the public as well as the other staff members of the library. These relationships emphasize the public service nature of the library and, therefore, demand of the Reference Librarian a high degree of courtesy, cooperation and genuine interest in assisting others in the pursuit of learning and information literacy. The incumbent is expected to collaborate with academic and student services departments to contribute to attracting and retaining students.
     Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)
     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Library Science with one (1) or more years of relevant experience working in a Library.
     Successful Candidate must have or must possess:  Knowledge of library services; Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.

     EXAMPLE OF JOB DUTIES: Under the direction of the Director of Library Services, the Reference Librarian performs a broad range of professional responsibilities of librarianship in the library of a Community College providing library services to students, faculty, staff and citizens of the communities served by the College. The Reference Librarian’s main function encompasses a broad-spectrum including reference services via in-person, phone, and online chat; collection development; assisting in interlibrary loan; circulation management; troubleshooting basic IT questions; and individualized instruction with library resources.

Children’s Intern - Licia & Mason Beekley Library, New Hartford, CT

Children’s Intern - The Beekley Children’s Department would like to hire an intern for the Fall 2021 semester. Duties under mentorship include 1) Children’s duties: reader’s advisory, planning and executing in-person storytime programs, craft preparation, and processing children’s materials 2) Circulation duties: checking patrons in and out, placing holds on materials, processing new library cards, pulling items for patron holds, re-shelving books and audio-visual material, assisting patrons with reference and technology questions, answering phone calls and emails, and handling curbside materials. In addition, the stand-alone circulation system will be going through a migration using Evergreen software and being added to the Bibliomation consortium during your tenure.
     The following hirable skills will be built throughout the internship program: developed and executed a 10-week storytime session, developed and executed a 9-week school-age craft program, working in a team, customer service skills, programming skills, and technology skills using two different circulation software systems. The ideal candidate must be a team player with strong technology skills, self-motivated, reliable, and have problem-solving skills. Children's Librarian - Town of Middlebury, CT is hiring a Children's Librarian. This position is responsible for promoting literacy to school aged children- preschool to high school to foster a community service environment that harnesses technology creatively to deliver information, resources and services to our youth. Reports directly to the Library Director and assumes the duties, responsibilities and authority of the Library Director in his/her absence.
     Duties and Responsibilities: Provides innovative age appropriate literacy programs virtually and in person, oversees the collection development in alignment with the local school system to ensure a balanced and compressive collection, supports digital needs of our younger community members, works with the Library Director to make recommendations for short- and long-range planning related to early literacy and after school programming.
     Responsibilities include but are not limited to administrative assignments including staff scheduling, statistics and program reports. Knowledge of bibliographic sources of information. Experience training, mentoring and working with a library community of all ages. Experience in planning, organizing and managing multiple tasks.      Responsibilities. The Chief Executive Officer formulates and oversees implementation of library goals, policy recommendations, procedures, programs, and projects in accordance with policies established by the Library Board of Trustees and mandated by the laws of the state of Kansas. Providing vision, direction, and leadership, the CEO is responsible for, but not limited to, the delivery of library services with an emphasis on equity, diversity, and inclusion; oversight of human resources focusing on mentoring and coaching a committed staff; development and presentation of the annual budget; coordination of collaborative, strong relationships with the Library Board, the Library Foundation, and the Friends of the Library; and a continued knowledge and interest of current trends in leading for the future of the Library.
     Qualifications. Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program and five years of progressively responsible administrative and managerial experience in public libraries. Essential attributes include personal integrity, demonstrated skill and experience with fiscal oversight and budgeting, excellent interpersonal and consensus-building skills, a focus on creating a culture of trust and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and demonstrated ability to provide leadership throughout the Library promoting the values set forth in the Library’s mission. In addition, the CEO should possess demonstrable communication skills that span the library, its staff and stakeholders and the community at large. The CEO, through care, compassion, and energy will galvanize organizational efforts to position the Library at the forefront of library service. A sense of curiosity, creativity, and innovation; a thorough knowledge of current trends, technologies and “best practices” for libraries; and prior successful experience reporting to a governing Board are desirable attributes and qualifications for the next TSCPL CEO.
Compensation. The hiring salary range is $145,000 –$165,000 (with placement negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications), and an excellent fringe benefits package. By contract, the CEO will be required to reside in Shawnee County.

Digital Library Manager - Choate Rosemary Hall. The Digital Library Manager is responsible for the management, implementation, and maintenance of digital library resources including digital content such as e-books, databases, websites, and the library system. This role ensures interactive user engagement with library digital content and investigates and promotes new methods and tools for keeping the library’s digital presence fresh.      Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinates and maintains content for web services that provide a quality user experience. Open or close the library according to procedures. Identifies, develops, and delivers patron instruction in the use of the library’s digital resources. Manages the Library's licensed digital resources, including tasks related to implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of resources. Manages and maintains library website, online catalog, and databases. Works cooperatively with librarians and staff to promote the use of digital tools and resources to serve our community. Oversee student technical support services. Researches, analyzes, and evaluates all aspects of library’s digital services. Works with vendors for ongoing maintenance, development and support concerning features and functions the library requires to maintain digital services. Assists students and other library patrons in locating resources by answering questions, gathering materials, demonstrating use of equipment and various software. Participates in the ASKUS desk rotation and is responsible for providing exemplary customer service for students, employees, and visitors. Maintains interfaces between the library’s integrated system and third-party products, in-house developed products, self-service checkout, computer reservation systems, and web-based applications that require authentication. Collects and maintains statistical data and provide reports on digital resources and services to Library Director. Oversees acquisition, training, and troubleshooting for technology resources in the library.
     Requirements: Experience managing and transforming data in multiple formats. Demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot technical problems and implement solutions. Proficiency working with digital library resources and databases. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science, or closely related field.

The current Director will retire on December 31, 2021 after almost 20 years of service. The Library is a vibrant community center serving a town of nearly 4,000; it is the busiest library in Connecticut among towns with a population of 5,000 or less. It has an annual budget of approximately $460,000.
      The job of Library Director is a full-time, on-site position. The salary range is $70,000 - $85,000 and is commensurate with experience.
      We are looking for a dynamic, creative leader with excellent communication and organizational skills who is passionate about books, reading and connecting with the community. He or she will need to wear many hats.
