Children’s Intern - The
Beekley Children’s Department would like to hire an intern for the Fall
2021 semester. Duties under mentorship include 1) Children’s duties:
reader’s advisory, planning and executing in-person storytime programs,
craft preparation, and processing children’s materials 2) Circulation
duties: checking patrons in and out, placing holds on materials,
processing new library cards, pulling items for patron holds,
re-shelving books and audio-visual material, assisting patrons with
reference and technology questions, answering phone calls and emails,
and handling curbside materials. In addition, the stand-alone
circulation system will be going through a migration using Evergreen
software and being added to the Bibliomation consortium during your
tenure.
The following hirable skills will be built throughout
the internship program: developed and executed a 10-week storytime
session, developed and executed a 9-week school-age craft program,
working in a team, customer service skills, programming skills, and
technology skills using two different circulation software systems. The
ideal candidate must be a team player with strong technology skills,
self-motivated, reliable, and have problem-solving skills. If you are

This is a
temporary part-time position and has no benefits. The 14-hour per week
position pays $13.00 per hour. The schedule is Tuesdays and Wednesdays
10 a.m.-3 p.m., and Fridays 9:30-1:30. Some flexibility Thursday
evenings and Saturdays is preferred to shadow children's programs.
