The Yale Library in New Haven, Connecticut, seeks a collaborative and strategic professional for the position of Metadata Services Unit (MSU) Manager. MSU is one of two units within Resource Discovery Services (RDS), a department of Library Technical Services.

Reporting to the Director of RDS, the MSU Manager oversees a unit that performs batch level metadata editing; database reporting and analysis; data extract, transformation, and loads (ETL), schema mapping across discovery systems; metadata policy guidance and documentation; project design and management; authority control; research data information management, as well as linked data, Yale’s Open Metadata Service, and BIBFRAME implementation. The unit's work requires a high level of collaboration with colleagues across the library and broader communities in developing and maintaining data standards, practices, and tools.

The MSU Manager participates in recruiting, managing, training, developing, and directly supervising unit staff; plans, manages, and assesses process and workflow changes; fosters a team approach to the work; establishes metrics, tracks progress, and regularly reports on the unit’s work; oversees projects and participates in library- and university-wide committees and task forces; and participates in regional, national, and international professional activities–both to contribute to the profession and to grow individually as a librarian.
