Student Success Librarian (3 openings) - University of Connecticut, Storrs


Job Summary:
The UConn Library seeks three proactive, creative, and student-centered librarians to join us in advancing student academic engagement and success. To meet this need we are recruiting two Student Success and Engagement Librarians to establish and enhance student connections to the Library through the development and delivery of First Year and co-curricular information literacy programming and one Instruction and Learning Design Librarian to develop engaging, scalable, and sustainable content, guidance, and support for the Library’s instructional programming. These three new positions report to the Head of Reference and Student Success Services and join a growing unit that positively impacts the holistic student experience by providing innovative and accessible instruction, programming, and outreach and engagement services.

Successful candidates will have a learner-centered approach to instructional design and information literacy and will draw on strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to develop successful working partnerships across the UConn Library and the larger University community. As active members of the Library and guided by our Strategic Framework of Connect, Empower, and Engage the successful candidates will make positive contributions to a culture of inclusion and respect in all interactions within the Library and across the University and will exemplify the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and justice and the UConn Library values of kindness and trust, curiosity and inquiry, equity and inclusion, and having fun.

Minimum Qualifications: A graduate degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association-accredited institution, or international equivalent. Demonstrated ability to effectively instruct individuals and groups online and in person using the ACRL information literacy framework. Demonstrated ability to create online research guides, instructional videos, tutorials, and/or other digital learning objects to support community needs. Knowledge of products, tools, services, venues, and opportunities that foster learning, research, publication, and scholarship. Demonstrated understanding of the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion and a commitment to working collaboratively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. A strong commitment to customer service and a demonstrated ability to provide effective public service. Demonstrated ability to deliver reliable, effective, and appropriate verbal and written communications that follow current professional standards across various and diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work both independently and collaboratively.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for Appointment as Librarian 2: Minimum of three years of experience as a post-graduate degree professional librarian. Demonstrated recurrent active engagement in professional activities at a statewide, regional, and/or national level.

Preferred Qualifications For All Appointments: Experience with instructional design theory and practice and with the technologies with current technologies and tools to deliver e-learning content. Proven success in planning and presenting highly effective programs or events. Demonstrated experience, either on the job or through graduate-level coursework, with library assessment practices and methodologies. Knowledge of issues in open education or equitable access to education and information. Proven success in fostering partnerships with various stakeholders that focus on student success. Post-graduate coursework or degree in Instructional Design or a related field.

APPOINTMENT TERMS: All three appointments are full-time, primarily on-site with hybrid schedule options based in Storrs, Connecticut. The University offers a competitive salary, outstanding benefits, including employee and dependent tuition waivers at UConn, and a highly desirable work environment. Salary and rank are dependent upon education, qualifications, and experience. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA). Salary Range: $62,834 - $91,487
