Location: Catherine M. McGee Middle School
The library media specialist is expected to create a community that supports and promotes reading, media, and digital literacy. As such, the library media specialist oversees the entire operation of the school library media center. The library media specialist serves in a variety of roles to include the following: teacher, information specialist, and program administrator.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Proper CT teaching certification: School Library Media Specialist (062) or Librarian (048). Extensive knowledge of literary and information literature for secondary school students. In-depth understanding of the social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the secondary school student. Deep knowledge of educational technology and ability to integrate in all curricular areas. Strong interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: M.S. in Library Science and Certification as a Library Media Specialist. Previous experience as a Library Media Specialist is preferred.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Beginning as soon as possible; salary and benefits in accordance with negotiated agreement between the Berlin Board of Education and the Berlin Education Association, salary based on full-time rate of $51,200 BA, Step 1 - $106,148 Ph.D., Max.
