Book Bike Summer Intern - Simsbury Public Library

Do you have a love of the outdoors and enjoy engaging with children and their families? We are looking for a student currently enrolled in a library science program or related field to be our Book Bike Summer Intern. This person will be enthusiastic, creative, and service-oriented. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting Simsbury Public Library’s book bike, to various locations around the Town of Simsbury (including the 5 elementary schools) highlighting our Summer Reading Program, library services, and recommending books to people of all ages and abilities. This position will also perform circulation functions like checking out library materials, creating new library card accounts, and signing people up for the Summer Reading Program using a mobile checkout system. The successful candidate must be able to pedal an electric bicycle up to 18 miles on shared, multi-use routes and in compliance with safety and the rules of the road.

This is a seasonal internship, June 26 – August 4, 2023, 20 hours per week (generally weekday mornings) with an hourly pay rate of $18/hour. Apply online by Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at http://www.simsbury-ct.gov/jobs.
