The
East Hampton Public Library seeks a dynamic, friendly and
forward-thinking Adult and Young Adult Librarian. This person will
create positive library experiences by providing reference, reader's
advisory and technology assistance to the public. Design, plan and
implement educational and innovative programming to people over the age
of 11. Build relationships and forge partnerships with community groups
and schools to foster literacy and lifelong learning. Develop, analyze
and maintain collections for adults and teens. Supervise, lead and guide
paraprofessional staff. Communicate effectively about issues and
initiatives with staff and the public.
The ideal candidate will
have a master's degree in Library Science or Information and Library
Science from an ALA accredited program plus two years of relevant
experience working with adults and/or teens. Strong abilities to
interpret, communicate and present information both orally and in
writing. The ability to thrive in an environment with constant public
interaction. A positive attitude, and excellent customer service and
interpersonal skills. The ability to use a wide variety of technology
including email, MS office tools, databases and WordPress. Ability to
creatively solve problems, multi-task and prioritize. Leadership skills
to supervise paraprofessional staff. This is a full time, union position
with a liberal benefit package and a starting hourly rate of $30.18.
One evening per week and Saturdays on a rotation required.
