At
UConn Health in the Library a full time Office Assistant working under
the general direction of the Head of the User Services Department.
Independently performs basic library tasks, using knowledge of
etiquette, communication, internet and computer skills. The Office
Assistant - Information Desk Assistant is expected to process service
requests exercising initiative and judgement and may participate in team
based decision making that addresses library policies and procedures at
an operational level. This position requires good communication,
interpersonal and problem solving skills.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of an employee of higher grade.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May lead lower level clerical or other employees as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Two (2) years of general clerical work experience.
Substitution Allowed:
College training may be substituted for the general experience on the
basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling six (6) months of
experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS, ABILITY: Knowledge of office systems and procedures including
proper telephone usage and filing. Oral and written communication
skills. Skill in performing arithmetical computations. Basic
interpersonal skills. Ability to perform a full range of clerical tasks.
Ability to operate office equipment which includes personal computers,
computer terminals and other electronic automated equipment. Ability to
operate office suite software. Ability to schedule and prioritize
workflow. Ability to read and interpret complex instructions.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
SCHEDULE: 40 hrs per wk. 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, Mon - Fri, 30 minute unpaid meal break.
FULL TIME EQUIVALENT SALARY MINIMUM: $43,815.00
