     The State of Connecticut, Connecticut State Library (CSL) has one (1) available opportunity for a Library Specialist in the Cataloging Unit at CSL’s main facility in Hartford, Connecticut. CSL is an Executive Branch agency founded in 1854. CSL provides a variety of library, information, archival, public records, museum, and administrative services for citizens of Connecticut, as well as for the employees and officials of all three branches of State government. CSL also serves students, libraries, researchers, and town governments. The Cataloging Unit provides high quality original and derivative cataloging records in support of these services and regularly contributes holdings to authoritative international databases through its participation in the NACO and CONSER programs administered by the Library of Congress. CSL is a primary participant in the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) Library Consortium, through which auspices CSL uses the ExLibris Alma library management system and Primo patron discovery platform.
     Position Highlights: Under the general supervision of the Cataloging Unit Head, and in collaboration with other members of the Cataloging Unit and other State Library staff, the Library Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining the catalog of the Library’s collection, with a specialty in cataloging official publications of Connecticut State Government agencies.
     The Library Specialist is responsible for coordinating and substantially contributing bibliographic records to two PCC programs: CONSER (the Cooperative Online Serials Program), and NACO (Name Authority Cooperative Program), and the Connecticut NACO funnel group.
     Schedule: Full-time position; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
     Location: Connecticut State Library, 231 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06107
     Work setting: Telework available. Current option typically provides for 50% telework per two-week pay period.
