Adult/Teen Services Librarian - Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, Monroe, CT

Adult/Teen Services Librarian - The Edith Wheeler Memorial Library is seeking a creative and forward-thinking Adult/Teen Services Librarian with a strong understanding of current public library services. Under the supervision of the Library Director, the person in this position performs responsible and varied administrative and professional library work related to planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the Adult and Teen Departments and Makerspace.
     Duties include researching and bringing new technologies on board for the library’s new makerspace; planning and marketing of adult and teen programs; maintaining the library’s web page and social media accounts; selecting and acquiring materials; maintaining the collection; and developing new public services. In coordination with the Library Director, the Adult/Teen Services Librarian supervises the Circulation Services Manager, the Cataloger, and all staff and volunteers assigned to reference, interlibrary loan, Makerspace, and teen services.      Qualifications: M.L.S. degree from and ALA credited institution; minimum three (3) years experience working with adult and/or teen services, resources, literature, reference resources, and online searching preferred. Strong customer service and computer skills, ability to work as part of a team, verbal and written communication skills. Some supervisory experience necessary or significant progress toward MLS, plus some relevant experience.
     Salary: The position is part of the Supervisor Union and requires 35 hours per week with some evenings and Saturdays. Salary range is $48,990 - $65,921 a year, depending on qualifications and experience, with a comprehensive town benefits package. For further information about the library, visit www.ewml.org.
