Youth Services Librarian - Raymond
Library is looking for a Youth Services Librarian. Duties include, but
are not limited to, planning, promoting, and implementing special
programs for children and teens using ideas derived from books, other
libraries, and through personal contact. Assisting in promoting library
use, especially programs and services of the children's department.
Periodically confers with school principals and teachers. Covers
circulation desk as required, as well as other related library duties.
Evaluates materials and services and assists in the selection of
materials for library acquisition. Provides reference service to
children and teachers. Keeps current with new trends in library planning
and services.
Preferred knowledge of current trends in library
service to children and teens; knowledge of youth literature and
materials; programming skills; ability to work with children and teens,
ability to develop and implement services to children and teens;
knowledge of the principals of library administration, including
collection development, planning, and coordination preferred; ability to
prepare and deliver brief, concise and attractive reports of library
services and facilities both orally and in writing; a working knowledge
of computer applications for library services; ability to work
effectively with library staff and library patrons.
This is a
30 hour a week position with no benefits. The salary is $15.50/hour and
the regular schedule includes some evenings and Saturdays.
