Library Assistant, Part-time - Mystic & Noank Library

Library Assistant, Part-time - The Mystic & Noank Library seeks an enthusiastic and tech-savvy team player with excellent customer service skills and a commitment to the importance of the library in the community. This is a part-time position, 18 hours per week plus availability for on-call shifts. Work schedule is Mondays and Tuesdays 9:30 to 2, Wednesdays, 2 to 5 and Fridays, 10 to 5. Hourly rate is $14.00. Vacation time is accrued after 6 months.
     Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Delivery of excellent customer service to all ages. Assist patrons in person, over the phone and via email. Issue library cards. Check materials in and out using the library’s SIRSI Catalog. Help manage reserves, overdue items and interlibrary loan requests and returns. Collect fines. Provide internet, email, copying, printing, faxing and other technology assistance. Introduce patrons to all library services, collections and technology. Provide reference services and reader’s advisory using the online catalog. Register patrons for library programs using our Eventkeeper software. Assist with library programs, including film screenings and making popcorn. Shelve materials. Empty the outdoor book drop. Move book donations and yard sale donations to the basement. Other duties as assigned. Successful candidate must be a team player with strong technology skills, positive attitude, enjoys working with the public, self-motivated, reliable, flexible and able to multi-task. High school diploma and technology skills required. Prior library experience, college degree and familiarity with library technology are a plus.
     While performing the duties of this job, the employee must stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds.
