to an exceptional state-of-the-art Resource Center, the John P. Webster
Library. Founded in 1978, the Library
has become widely known and sought out for its unique niche in supporting
progressive Christian spirituality. The
Library was rededicated in 2016 following a complete renovation of its
facility. The Library offers a place of fellowship, faith formation, and
programs consistent with the vision and ministry of First Church. This includes being a regional platform of
outreach to the greater Hartford community as well as a service to the members
of the congregation. Welcoming,
comfortable, intergenerational and dynamic, the Library fosters an inclusive
setting for lively faith in this new era of religious seeking. The ideal
candidate to join us will have a true heart for ministry and a passion for
sharing resources and ideas with people across generations. As Director, she/he will oversee the
operation of the library, including management of several library staff. The candidate will have a vision for our
library and develop, implement, promote and market programs. She/he will be an integral part of the church’s
ministry and will work collaboratively with the church staff. The candidate will understand current
technologies as appropriate to the operation of the library. We look forward to welcoming a Director who
