Director - West Haven Public Library.

Supervises and oversees the operation of the entire West Haven Public Library System. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Performs the administrative tasks of overseeing the entire operation of the Library System. Delegates assigned responsibilities to the Assistant Director and other department heads. Recommends library changes to the Library Board. Prepares and oversees the budget. Adheres to allocated budget and administers the expenditures of the funds. Supervises the general upkeep, maintenance, minor repair and provisioning of the Main Library and the two branches. Acts as library spokesman for the Board and advises the board of current operations and requirements of the Library System. Represents the library at group, local, state, regional, and national meetings, and keeps abreast of technological and other advancements in the profession. Administers public relations programs for the library, conducts staff meetings and outlines objectives for the year to the staff. Performs advisory duties in accordance with the requirements of the library system and the directives of the Board of Trustees of the Village Improvement Association of West Haven, Inc. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of library services (techniques; philosophy, procedures); knowledge of library administration practices and techniques; ability to design and implement procedures; computer literacy for system and personal computers; ability to train and supervise staff; ability to speak and write effectively; good judgment. Salary: $58,000 - $75,000 per yr.
