Assistant City Librarian - Bridgeport Public Library. Responsibilities: The Assistant City Librarian is an executive level position, under the direction of the City Librarian, responsible for the overall daily operations of the library administration and service. The Assistant City Librarian responsibilities include but are not limited to: Performs the duties of the City Librarian in her/his absence; plans and recommends new types of library service; consults with library administration and librarians on policies and procedures; supervises federal and state funded programs; assists in budget preparation; responsible for recruiting and training library staff; assists in supervising building maintenance. Qualifications: A Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from a library school accredited by the American Library Association, or a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources of Public Administration. Five (5) or more years of satisfactory professional library experience including general management, budgeting, purchasing and human resources. At least three (3) years of prior experience shall have been in a supervisory position. Thorough knowledge of current library practice and trends, leadership and supervisory ability. Salary Range: Salary range is $86,000 - $96,000 depending on qualifications and includes an excellent benefits package.
