Branch Manager - Hartford Public Library

Branch Manager - Hartford Public Library seeks creative and flexible individual to manage a branch location. Responsibilities: supervise and schedule staff and monitor attendance to ensure adequate staffing; oversee branch operations, building, and grounds maintenance so the branch is clean, safe, and attractive; engage and inform the neighborhood stakeholders regarding library programs and work to assure the continuous operation of the library system; assist, advise, and work very closely with Youth Services Librarian to achieve system-wide goals; assist in the development and maintenance of the branch collection to ensure the branch meets the needs of the community it serves; supervise and participate in public service activities including circulation and reference services; serve library customers’ informational and reader’s advisory needs; and monitor and assess user activities, programs, services, and goals. Qualifications: Masters degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution with a minimum of two years experience and training or a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 5-7 years experience in a library. Previous supervisory/managerial experience required, preferably in a service organization. Candidate must have general computer proficiency, including knowledge of library software and Microsoft Office products; ability to communicate effectively and establish and manage effective working relationships with users, employees, supervisors, and the general public; and possess communication skills necessary to resolve issues with library users. Salary range: $1,392 to $1.740 bi-weekly, dependent on experience.
