Assistant Director, Administrative Services - The Fairfield Public Library is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director - Administrative Services. The primary responsibility: to support the Town Librarian to provide excellent library service with special emphasis on administrative responsibilities, staff development, technological applications and readers’ advisory services. Responsibilities include: supervision of the Main Library custodians, Senior Circulation Supervisor, and other employees as assigned by the Town Librarian; budgetary and payroll responsibilities; daily oversight of the physical plant of the Main Library; development and review of draft of Library’s technology plan; Readers Advisory Services; Staff Development; management of administration office; and any other related duties. The candidate must have deep interest and drive in the: Efficient operation and organization of administrative functions; Library Staff experience excellent professional development opportunities; Leading edge application of information technology system-wide; Development of institutionalized expertise in Readers’ Advisory Services. Must have 5 or more years of supervisory experience including a proven record working effectively with staff. Must have experience working with budgets and payroll. Broad knowledge and experience working to improve the efficiency of library processes. Highly skilled in work demanding detail and accuracy. Knowledge and experience working with integrated library management systems, and library information technology applications. Demonstrated deep interest in popular reading materials and willingness to mentor staff to promote readers advisory services. This is a 35 hour per week position, one evening until 9:00 pm and one Saturday a month. An MLS from an ALA accredited university and five years of supervisory experience and progressively responsible administration experience. Salary range: $73,039 - $92,441.
