Youth Service Librarian - James Blackstone Memorial Library, Branford

Youth Service Librarian - Full-time Youth Services Supervisor for the James Blackstone Memorial Library in Branford; to supervise youth and children's services, including readers' advisory and information services, material selection and acquisition, and programming for children and young adults. The successful candidate must possess a strong commitment to internal and external customer service; the ability to plan, organize, direct and evaluate the operations of the department; strong oral and written communication skills; knowledge of current trends in librarianship; indirect and direct supervisory skill of paraprofessional staff and volunteers; and a good measure of initiative, integrity, and sound judgment. The successful candidate should be knowledgeable of youth literature and collection development philosophy and methods, and knowledge of computers and information services. This position requires working some nights and weekends. A Master's degree in librarianship from an accredited college or university is preferred. This is a 40-hour per week benefited position.
